Altarocca Wine Resort
A journey for the senses: this sums up the accommodation offered by the Altarocca Wine Resort; a structure that is devoted to taste, wellness and relaxation as well as contact with nature. With around 11 hectres of vineyards and olive groves and situated only a short distance from the centre of Orvieto, the resort is made up of:4 villas, where suites, rooms and apartments can be found; 3 swimming pools (including a children's pool), a Wellness and Spa centre where you can lose yourself in the pleasure of a regenerating massage; a gym; a restaurant serving renown dishes from the local territory and a winehouse where guests can try wine sourced from the surrounding area. Enclosed by Umbrian hills and adorned by aromatic plants, the Resort promotes itself as a relaxing base from which to explore historic, artistic and cultural attractions found in the territory and is a suggestive location for receptions, meetings and or conferences with personalised packages to meet all needs.
The Altarocca Spa is set in 270mq and provides a sauna, Turkish Bath, heated pool with hydro-massage, emotional showers, a tea room, a relaxation room and the suggestive "room of dreams" with a star ceiling; the Private Spa also hosts a sauna, hydro-massage bath and two beds dedicated to massages for couples. The menu is rich of relaxing and energising massages as well as facial and body treatments all to be experienced in the reserved cabins. For the physical well-being of guests, the Resort offers a panoramic and air-conditioned gym with multi-functional machines.
Rooms at the Resort are divided into: Classic- situated in the hamlet Borgo del Vino with an external garden and garden furniture, Deluxe- situated in Villa Gualtieri with a terrace and all are equipped with: ample showers, Satellite TV, safe, minibar and a free Wi-Fi Internet connection. Junior Suites are also situated in Villa Gualtieri and provide small living rooms. Suites in the hamlet of Borgo del Vino boast a private loggia, as do the Romantic Suites and Prestige Suites. The Resorts' offering is completed by three types of apartments- Classic, Superior and Family- in which all provide a fully-furnished living room with kitchen and dishwasher and either have private, patios, gardens or terraces. Guests of the apartments can enjoy two large barbeque grills situated in the garden.
Awarded with two, prestigious Michelin stars, the Altarocca Restaurant proposes lunch and dinner comprising local and Italian dishes which are prepared with organic and zero kms products found in the local area, as well as dedicated menus for vegetarians, vegans and celiacs. Next to the restaurant lies the elegant winehouse where guests can experience wine-tasting of local, Italian and International brands. Cooking courses and show-cooking are also organised by the restaurant.

The Duomo (cathedral) in Orvieto is an unmissable visit; one of the most important examples of Gothic, Italian architecture, it took years of hard work to build between the 13th-16th centuries. Among the attractions in the surroundings: the Duomo, Palazzo dei Priori, Palazzo del Popolo and Palazzo Capitano are all in close proximity to the beautiful Piazza Vittoria Emanuele, situated in the town of Todi; Spoleto offers a Romanesque Duomo, the ruins of a Roman theatre, a museum, a splendid fortress and the Ponte delle Torre (Bridge of Towers). La Scarzuola in Montegiove is a highly recommeded visit,with its itinerary from the original symbolic conception realised in the 1960's by architect, Tomaso Buzzi. Other unmissable visits include the small medieval towns set in the Umbrian countryside, in Bevagna, Spello and Montefalco and, naturally, Perugia, with it's splendid, medieval town centre and its five districts.
