The Bellevue Hotel & Spa is a stately home situated in the mountain village of Cogne. Its unique location encircled by the Sant’Orso prairie offers a spectacular view of the Gran Paradiso glacier. This famous resort town as welcomed both the Italian and Belgian royal families, as well as the renowned pianist Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, who played the piano now kept in the hotel’s dining room. The Wellness & Spa area of the Bellevue Hotel & Spa covers an area of 1,200sqm, including two pools with massage jets (one at 32°, children allowed, and another with mineral salts, at a temperature of 34°, adults only). There are five types of sauna (citrus biosauna, hay, camomile, Finnish and with infrared rays), as well as two steam baths, a salt grotto, a Jacuzzi and a polar grotto (with ice that snows from above into an antique baptismal font), all complete by two sensory showers and relaxation areas. The massage menu is extremely varied, and massages are enjoyed in a variety of cabins, as are beauty treatments for men and women. Clay-based treatments using mud aged in contact with the local mineral water are also available. Couples treatments can even be experienced in a mountain chalet from the XVIII century, in the “Grotta dell’Orso”, or the “Tana delle Marmotte”.
Each room has its own particular colour scheme and furnishings. The Bellevue Hotel & Spa rooms and Suites are also differentiated by their special facilities and features. The singles and small doubles have a view of the town, and some have a balcony. Superior rooms may also have balconies as well as wooden flooring. Deluxe rooms have one or two balconies, except the attic situated or family room. The Junior Suites all have balconies looking onto Gran Paradiso in addition to a separate dressing room area. The Suites have balconies, whirlpool baths, fireplaces, and some have a sauna in the bathroom. Chalets all have two floors, a fireplace and a cosy living area, while the Angels’ Nest is a panoramic suite with a 180° view over the Sant’Orso prairy, onto the Gran Paradiso glacier, furnished with a four-poster bed, water-run fireplace and a suspended bathtub with an indoor/outdoor effect.
The Bellevue Hotel & Spa has a broad choice of dining options to please every guests needs and tastebuds. The Bellevue Restaurant has a small menu each day that always include Valle D’Aosta traditional dishes made with fresh and authentic ingredients, often from the Hotel’s won vegetable patch. The Bar à Fromage offers typical local food from the delightful old alpine dairy with its enormous fireplace. More intimate dining (just four tables) can be experienced in Le Petit Restaurant, a tiny Michelin star restaurant specialising in both mountain and Mediterranean dishes. La Brasserie du bon Bec, in the main town square, offers convivial dishes typical of the Western Alps, while La maison à l’Alpage, reached by a walk through the woods of Valnontey, holds weekly feasts of grilled delights and polenta. During the high season you can dine al fresco on the Hotel Terrace, specialising in grilled meats, fish and vegetables.

As the “capital” of the Gran Paradiso National Park, Cogne is the ideal base for exploring nature locally. On foot, you can reach peaks as high as 4,000 meters above sea level, wandering through alpine refuges, bivouacs and glaciers. Its not just nature that you will enjoy: Valle D’Aosta is also famed for its medieval castles, four notable examples are the castles of Fénis, Verres, Saint-Pierre and Sarre (once a royal residence). The Fort of Bard you can also visit the Museum of the Alps, which has a special area reserved for youngsters. Other regional attractions include the Ponte d’Ael – a stone built aqueduct dating back to the 3rd century BC, one of the most suggestive testimonies of Valle D’Aosta’s Roman period. Aosta itself is also a must see, being the second most important city in the world for the conservation of Roman remains and monuments. It also holds a treasure trove of artistic and religious artefacts from various periods. In the city, don’t miss the monuments of Sant’Orso with the gothic style church, the Ottonian frescos, the crypt and the cloisters. Also of particular historical importance are the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta and Saint John the Baptist, the city’s main place of worship. Finally, the hotel’s location is a convenient starting point for trips to France, to the nearby Chamonix and Switzerland, particularly Geneva and Martigny.
