Ganischgerhof Mountain Resort & Spa ****S
The name says it all: Ganischg derives from Genist, meaning ‘nest’. And that’s just what the Ganischgerhof Mountain Resort & Spa is: a nest, a unique and comfortable place where you can relax before and after taking advantage of the many sports and recreational activities on offer in the Dolomites, a UNESCO world heritage site. One of the most exclusive and remarkable characteristics of the Ganischgerhof Mountain Resort & Spa are the views of the extraordinary panorama from almost every room in the hotel: gaze over the magnificent mountains from the 2500 square meters of garden with sunbeds and patio furniture, from the communal lounges, the restaurant, from the terrace, the spa, the gym, as well as from most of the bedrooms and the Torretta with heated water beds. With large bedrooms containing wooden furnishings and modern comforts, varied and high quality cuisine served in different environments, a wellness offer that includes a large sauna area, areas for massage and beauty treatments, and a gym, the hotel offers everything guests need for a relaxing holiday in close contact with nature. Idyllic all year round, winter skiers can head off to the best slopes of the Latemar-Obereggen ski resort. The hotel is also just 20 km from Bolzano, with its shops and cultural and recreational attractions.
The large Spa of the Ganischgerhof Mountain Resort & Spa contains an indoor swimming pool, a Finnish sauna with panoramic views of the Rosengarten, a Turkish steam bath or aromatherapy steam bath, an ice grotto, Kneipp pools, and heated water beds. The Spa offers more than 40 different massages and beauty treatments that use essences from the Alps and are performed in six different rooms where there is also a heated bench. The wellness and relaxation offer also includes exclusive heated water matrasses around the tower with views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The property also has a gym equipped with the latest cardio fitness machines and that offers panoramic views of the mountains.
The 40 bedrooms of the Ganischgerhof Mountain Resort & Spa have been assigned names after the surrounding mountains. The standard rooms are the Reggelberg and Latemar, the former located in the historic part of the hotel with balconies overlooking the garden or the Rosengarten group, and the latter in the new part of the hotel, both with self-catering facilities. The superior rooms, called the Rosengarted and Schlern also have balconies and self-catering facilities, the latter also with a separate bedroom and lounge area. The hotel also contains the Landhaus junior suites and three Turmsuites, ideal for families, having two separate bedrooms. All rooms and suites contain a telephone, a safe, satellite TV, a radio, a minibar and Wi-Fi internet connection.
The restaurant of the Ganischgerhof Mountain Resort & Spa serves cuisine mostly created using locally sourced ingredients: the meat comes from the surrounding valleys, the fruit and vegetables from the local farmers, and the fresh pasta and desserts are made in-house. Dishes include freshwater and saltwater fish, typical local and Mediterranean specialities, vegetarian menus and gluten and lactose free options, all accompanied by a vast selection of wines from the cellar stocked with the best local and national labels. The cuisine can be enjoyed in the restaurant, or in the comfortable lounge, the Stube with its log fire, or on the panoramic terrace. The hotel organises barbeques in the summer out on the terrace and show cooking evening. The hotel also owns two lodges in the mountains that serve typical mountain cuisine between one slope and the next.
