Hotel Tonnara Trabia ****
It was the most ancient tuna fishing trap in Sicily; already in business in the second half of the 14th century. Situated at the entrance of the characteristic sea village of Trabia on the Tyrrhenian Sea between Palermo and Cefalu, the fishing trap became a project of renovation, turning it into a luxury hotel- Hotel Tonnara- it's exclusive services combined with the convenience of being a short distance away from places of artistic, nature and cultural interest. From the hotel, after crossing a well-cured lawn, guests can access a beach with both sand and pebbles. Guests can also relax in an outdoor pool overlooking the sea, not forgetting the Spa and Wellness centre, where, after a rest in a Turkish Bath and a multi-sensory shower, guests can undergo many different types of treatments and massages performed by highly specialized therapists. Moreover, at Hotel Tonnara, you can taste the best in Italian and Sicilian cuisine, with a base of meat or fish as well as pizza. In the summer, the restaurant relocates out onto the lawn providing an excellent location for events and ceremonies. Two fully equipped rooms can be taken advantage of for the purpose of conferences and meetings.
An indoor swimming pool with hydro-massage, Turkish bath and multi-sensory showers all create the wet treatment area of the Wellness centre at Hotel Tonnara: these can be preluded by an ample choice of massages and treatments performed in the structure and concluded with a break in the relaxation area. Beauty treatments include an exclusive caviar toning treatment, a special treatment created to counter the negative effects of the sun and the sea, to add, a bamboo massage and a Chakra Stone massage performed with lava stones. Guests can also enjoy holistic services such as Yoga, Piloga, Pilates, Acquagym, Freebody, Jumping and Stretching.

From Trabia, on the Tyrrhenian coast half way between Palermo and Cefalu, places of artistic, naturalistic and cultural interest are easily reached. Just a few minutes away, heading towards Cefalu, you can find Termini Imerese, famous for it's thermal baths founded by the Carthaginians in 407 AD and as local legend tells, offered comfort to no other than Hercules himself! An itinerary in Termini Immerese is further enriched by a visit to the ruins of a Roman amphitheater and a Roman Cornelio aqueduct before moving on to Himera, once one of the most important Greek cities in Sicily. It's then on to Caccamo, where you can admire one of the biggest and most well-preserved castles in Sicily. Lastly, at Cefalu, a visit to the ruins of a Norman cathedral, a recognized UNESCO heritage site, is encouraged. A possible itinerary, from Trabia to Palermo, comes across the ruins of Solunto, one of the three most important cities in Sicily; close to the picturesque sea ports of Sant'Elia and Porticello. Before reaching the Sicilian capital; rich of monuments, churches and museums that describe it's long and tormented history, there is time to see Bagheria, where the Sicilian aristocracy of the 18th century built elegant villas and buildings as their holiday retreat.
