Hotel Milano Alpen Resort & SPA ****
This resort, in the Orobic Alps, is made up of three buildings: the Hotel Milano, the Dependance and the Residenza. The central building is Hotel Milano and it boasts: a renowned restaurant called ‘Al Caminone’; a wine bar stocked with over 650 different types of wine, from national to international bottles; the Lounge Bar & Terrace, which has large windows that look out of the Alps; a health farm; the Natural Well-being Alpen Spa, which was the first in the world to be certified as a biowellness spa; exclusive biorooms; and 'emotional suites'. The Dependance, on the other hand, is made up of classic rooms, which are located in the resort’s garden, whilst the Residenza, which is opposite Hotel Milano, is home to deluxe rooms, the original Alpen suites, a congress centre, fitness area with a Nordic walking school and Stott pilates centre, a yoga terrace and herb allotment.
The Natural Wellness Alpen Spa was the first certified biowellness spa in the world. The purposes of the treatments offered here vary widely: they can purify, relax, tone, de-stress, energise, remodel, prevent aging and pamper guests, and the special Alpen fit health courses are also added to this list, which are centred around physical activity outdoors. The spa is founded upon the medicinal effects of hydrogenate rich hot water, and here the treatments carried out for different purposes range from: peat treatments to massages with Presolana rock and Himalayan baths for purifying means; shiatsu to chocolate massages and watsu in the swimming pool for relaxation; ayurvedic massages to Alpen massages for energising purposes; Alm cream baths to lavender treatments for de-stressing: limestone to white gold and water dermoabrasion for toning purposes; and pindasweda to lymph drainage for remodelling. All of this is possible thanks to facilities and services like the relaxation scrub shower, Kneipp baths, phlebologic circuit, the waterfall for the neck, lumbar shower heads, oxygen beds, Jacuzzis, the grotto of dreams with aromatherapy, a waterfall, vitarium, aromatic fog, Finnish sauna, Scottish shower, relaxation tea room, steam bath with aromatic salts for purifying scrubs and the wonder shower.
There are various room types available here, but each one always includes a television, internet access, safe box, mini bar, dressing gown and bio-organic toiletries. Hotel Milano is also home to the exclusive bio-organic rooms and the 'emotional suites', of which there are four types, and these are centred around the spa proposal. The classic rooms can be found in the Dependance and they are characterised by their simplicity and functionality, whilst the deluxe rooms in the Residenza offer a family version and can sleep up to three children.
Aperitifs and Sunday brunch can be enjoyed at the Alpen Lounge Bar , a space that is lit up by large glass windows that look out over the Dolomites, whilst the large restaurant ‘Al Caminone’, which takes its name from the big chimney that characterises, illuminates and heats it, opens its doors to guests to serve up tasty dishes. The atmosphere here is sophisticated and elegant and the menu is made up of many proposals, ranging from classic ingredients to creative and elaborate ideas, and everything is complimented by the wine bar at Hotel Milano, which boasts a wine cellar stocked with over 650 different types of Italian and foreign bottles. The Hotel Milano Alpen Resort is located in the town of Castione delle Presolana, at the foot of the homonymous massif and a basin known for its good climate and beautiful natural scenery. There are numerous, nearby ski facilities, and other winter sports can be practised here too.
