The Hotel Les Sources des Alpes is located in Leukerbad, Switzerland, a tranquil, quaint and authentic village in the heart of the Valais Alps, known for the therapeutic properties of its spring water. Once a destination for the rich and famous in the 19th century, it was a popular destination for naturalists, climbers, artists and English aristocratic families, and counts names such as Pablo Picasso, Paul Valéry, Charlie Chaplin and Herbert von Karajan among its illustrious guests. The spa facilities are all available at the hotel, with its spring water swimming pools heated to 36°C all year round and a vast range of treatments and curative, relaxing and aesthetic massages and treatments. The hotel has a restaurant that serves typical Mediterranean cuisine, a fully equipped conference room, and a series of seasonal activities, which include everything from cooking courses to curling lessons, tennis tournaments, mountain climbing, and walking through the meadows and forests punctuated by spring flowers or over the crisp winter snows.
The Spa at the Hotel Les Sources des Alpes is one of the most renowned in the region with its indoor and outdoor swimming pools filled with water from the local hot springs that remains at 36°C all year round. At the Spa centre, guests can treat themselves to massages with essential oils, hot pads, scrubs, balneotherapy, mudpacks and various treatments for the body. Weight loss programs combine treatments and personalised diets planned by dieticians and prepared by the chef at the hotel’s restaurant. At the Beauty Centre, the beauty treatments are based on essential oils, vegetable extracts, salts from the Swiss Alps, royal jelly and propolis. Some of the treatments exclusive to the centre are the cocoa massage for children, the Alpine herbs massage, the application of freeze-dried seaweed from Britany with its slimming effect, the Royal cure of Damascus rose petals with anti-ageing effect.
The 30 rooms of the Hotel Les Sources des Alpes are divided into categories of Standard, Superior, Junior Suite and Senior Suite, and are all equipped with the conveniences you would expect from a 5-star hotel. The standard rooms have various positions to choose from: those on the north side of the hotel offer views of the garden and outdoor swimming pool, while those to the south have a balcony with views of the Alps and the Deluxe rooms overlook the village and offer views of the valley and rocky cliffs of the Daubenhorn beyond. The Junior Suites, with views to the north or south, have a lounge area, 2 separate bathrooms and a balcony. Finally, the suites are ideal for families and have a lounge area with a fireplace and large windows with panoramic views to the north and south.
The Ristorante La Malvoisie of the Hotel Les Sources des Alpes serves dishes inspired by typical Mediterranean cuisine, yet caters for the special dietary requirements of all guests. The area of Switzerland in which the village of Leukerbad is located is ideal for sport lovers or for those looking for a relaxing holiday, and counting on the climate in which the sun shines for up to 2000 hours a year. Skiers in particular will enjoy being near to some of the most popular ski resorts in Switzerland, with almost all resorts above 1500 meters in the surrounding area, and some, like Zermatt, that reach up to 3900 msl. Around Leukerbad, there are numerous towns and villages of interest, with their own traditions and local costumes, starting with Albinen, just 6km from Leukerbad, which is one of the most renowned villages in the Vallese valley. If you like hiking, you won’t want to miss the chance to walk up to the Daubensee lake, or the path through the gullies forged by the river Dole, or the Roman road of Birchen. In every direction, you can admire the spectacular landscapes: one of the most breath-taking, is the panorama from the Torrenthorn view point, which can be reached by cable car and overlooks Mont Blanc and the Bernese Alps.
