Masseria Torre Coccaro *****
This hotel is immersed in the thriving Pugliese vegetation, which is what unites the luxury of this 5 star hotel with the charm of the ancient property, which is still fully intact. The hotel has two defence towers and guests can admire the panorama, made up of green trees and the blue sea, from them.
At Masseria Torre Coccaro guests have the luxury of staying in a rural environment; the rooms overlook the farmyard, the towers face the sea, there are suites located in the ancient grottos and there is a botanical garden and the opportunity to tour the area on horseback, and the view from the hotel is the final touch. Your palate will also be satisfied here thanks to the four restaurants which all boast menus characterised by local specialities.
What is more, the impressive spa is completely carved into stone and the beach extends along one of the most beautiful stretches of Salento.
Torre Coccaro’s spa is carved into stone and the naturalness of the area is enhanced by carefully chosen materials, such as wood and rice paper, and the plants and view of the ancient olive groves complement the relaxing atmosphere.
The spa features a technogym, a heated pool , a Jacuzzi and a Turkish bath with eucalyptus oil. Treatments for the body are carried out with organic substances, such as herbs and fruits picked in the grounds belonging to Aveda , and massages range from shaitzu and ayurvedica massages to reflexology, and some treatments are even carried out on waterbeds . Relaxation and aesthetics are at the centre of the spa’s wellness offer, and the spa also boasts a new treatment: olive therapy. The yoga (Iyengar Yoga, a form of Hata Yoga), energy aligning massage and Chi Kung , which is a mixture of martial arts and Chinese medicine, must also not be missed.
Masseria has 39 rooms; 3 suites (one of which has a private heated pool facing the ancient orange grove), 3 junior deluxe suites, 6 junior suites, 21 deluxe rooms and 6 superior rooms, and they all boast various features, such as hot tubs, stone fire places and private terraces.
‘Zero kilometres’ are the key words at the Masseria Torre Coccaro restaurants: they respect nature and pay tribute to the local traditions and characteristic flavours of the area.
The ingredients come directly from the local farms which provide the best meat, from lamb to pork and free-range chicken, and characteristic cheeses, like burrata and canestrato. The fish served in the restaurants is caught in the sea right in front of Masseria and nature provides the hotel with mushrooms, fruits of the forest, asparagus and myrtle berries.
Coccaro boasts four dining areas : the Egnathia restaurant , which serves meals that are characteristic of the area’s Mediterranean cuisine either in the rooms of the property’s old stables, which date back to the 1600s, or outside under the pergola; the Cabana , which is poolside; the Coccaro Beach Club on the beach, which specialises in fish; and the Le Palme restaurant at Maizza , which offers a creative cuisine.
Some of the hotel’s services and facilities:
Massiera lies in the heart of Puglia, near Savelletri di Fasano , in the province of Brindisi, and it can be reached easily from both Bari and Brindisi .
Torre Coccaro’s surroundings include the sea, nature and beautiful landscapes and, in addition to the beach which runs along the charming coast, nature lovers can lose themselves amongst the olive groves which are home to centuries-old plants.
For those who want to experience the past and feel the flow of history, this area boasts the characteristic Pugliese constructions called the ‘trulli’. These buildings, which are built out of white stone and have a particular cone shape, are artefacts and they can only be found in Puglia. In fact, the ‘trulli’ of Alberobello are so important, historically, that they have been declared a World Heritage Centre by UNESCO.
