A skiing paradise, the town of La Thuile is connected to the town of La Rosière by 80 ski slopes that stretch for 160 kilometres between in Italy and France, with 38 ski lifts throughout the resort. But Val d’Aosta is not just about skiing: although small, the region offers a great variety of landscapes and plenty of artistic treasures. From La Thuile, it is easy to reach the trails of the Gran Paradiso national park, the spectacular Rutor waterfall, the 19th century baths of Pré-Saint-Didier, the charming Courmayeur, and the castles of Fénis, Saint Piere, Sarre and Issogne. The centre of Aosta is worth a visit, but it’s just as easy to hop over the boarders to Chamonix in France or Geneva or Martigny in Switzerland.
