Grand Hotel Terme is halfway between Bari and Foggia, immersed in an area of incredible historic heritage and full of touristic attractions. Just to mention a few visit-worthy sites: Castel del Monte, a UNESCO Word Heritage Site, the Castles of Bari, Trani, Barletta and Manfredonia (a National Museum), the Cathedrals of Trani, Ruvo di Puglia, Altamura, Bari, Bitonto, Molfetta and Bisceglie, the catholic monasteries of San Giovanni Rotondo and San Michele Arcangelo in Monte Sant’Angelo, a UNESCO Word Heritage Site that attracts millions of pilgrims every year. The surrounding natural landscape is just as impressive: firstly, the salt pans of Margherita di Savoia, a protected nature reserve, a habitat whose richness and variety have been recognized internationally. The Gargano Promontory, only a few miles away, is just as impressive, with its concentration of rocks and cliffs, caves and coves, rocks and stacks, pine forests of Mediterranean scrub, untouched over the centuries. The must-visit tourist destinations are the Trulli of Alberobello, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Castellana Caves.
The thermal waters of the hotel come directly from the salterns. The concentration of bromine and iodine, as well as the high concentration of salt, make the "mother waters" particularly effective in the prevention and treatment of various gynecologic and skin diseases, respiratory conditions and ear infections. The use of exclusively natural and pure muds (that mature through a prolonged contact over the decades with the water in the salt pans and are never reused, thanks to the vast extension of the salt pans, that guarantees a constant supply), is particularly recommended for the bone system. The thermal waters are free from any pathogenic flora, so much so as to be defined "bacteriologically pure", and are rich in a unique microfauna and microflora, which gives them their characteristic reddish colour. According to the classification of Italian mineral waters, the thermal waters of Margherita di Savoia are strong sodium-chloride waters (sulphur salt-bromine-iodine waters).
